Chico Epic 8 Hour 27May2006

After 3 man relay team captain Ron MacNeil broke his collar bone days before the race, last minute sub, Andrew Rees stepped in. 3 minutes into his first lap he then stepped out as he broke his fork brace. Luckily Dave had the same pedals, so the great bike swap ensued for the rest of the 8 hour race.

The weather was great for this years Epic 8 hour race in Mansfield. Attended by several NBCC members. Two man tag team Chris Kmiec and Ed wozney, (Team 69), 3-4 man team Dave Hill (the beer-a-lap strategy seems to have worked!), and 3-4 man team (northern Ont. Rocks and Dirt), Dave Henschel, Andrew Rees, and Aaron Thompson

In the competitive 3-4 man team category the Northern Ontario Rocks and Dirt Team came in second place. The team was made up of Dave Henschel, Sudbury native Ron MacNeil, and Aaron Thompson. The weather was perfect for racing, although the course was rather dusty.Dave and Ryan Kuruliakl competed in the two man tag team under 80 category placing 5th.  While Dave’s son Daniel (11 years old), along with Max Eberhardt (10 years old), placed 25th. They were the youngest tag team in the entire event.   Way to go guys!  Ed Wozney also competed in the two man tag team event placing 29th, supplying much appreciated Moosehead and pepperettes, apres race.Click read more for the results..
